Okay, I've tried ctrip and elong without luck. Looking for a round-trip deal PVG to LAX and duration of stay 3-4 weeks.

Also, I checked out some us websites but couldn't find any cheap tickets. Trying to budget under 1k for a round-trip ticket.

Any advice or help would be appreciated, thanks SHEXPAT.

We often find reasonable deals on the airline sites, if agencies are unable to come up with something. Not sure who services LAX, but we have been able to get reasonable deals on Northwest the last couple trips.

Under 1K is going to be tough, you may find it but most likely it will be a really long flight.

Try Asiana Airlines, they go to LAX via Seoul. I also use a US website called Kayak.com, they seem to have a fairly complete list of fares.

Yep, tried kayak and sidestep (I think they're the same). Prices on average were around 1,300 and up. I'll check Northwest and Asiana right now.

Thanks!

the fare for flights was~

nwa ~1,245 USD
asiana ~11,809.00 CNY (1,729.77 USD)

The last two website was pretty good, I'll have to bookmark momondo and flychina. I was able to find a flight a little over the 1k mark. Around 1,040 USD

Thanks all !!!

Last time I went PVG to LAX a year ago was on China Eastern.
Non-stop.
Believe it was about $1,100USD

Booked it direct with MU

I flew with United a few times and it wasn't too bad. Although, when they stop over in SFO, got to switch from int'l flight to domestic flight, and the other way around going back as it was confusing at first.

I'd say overall, United airlines is decent for the cost/price but I experienced better.

considering its the holiday season and enough expats and student fill many of these flights out, the rates you are getting sound about to be the norm. ANA via Tokyo is a good option of ANA services LA.
