It is written by an Afghani man who left Afghanastan before the Taliban came in. It is about a young boy, and a playmate of his, and how the playmate was left behind . He became an author in the USA. Kite Runner tells about the cruelty in Afghanistan, the love he had for his family. It is hard to swallow some of the events that happen, but just the same it is very enlightening. San Francisco Chronicle named it Best book of the year. It is a book you will not put down nor will you ever foget it. As for where you can get it, I heard there is a new English book store in Times Square that has lots of up to date books. I have promised mine to 2 other people. Evidently flying kites in Afghanistan is a 'sport', along with chasing them---thus the title.
