HD-DVDs

Postby hking » Sun May 20, 2007 9:06 pm

Anyone know where I can buy HD-DVD's? How much are they going for? Are there pirated versions? I went to two shops on Huangjincheng Ave and they both said that they can't be bought in China. Remember reading somewhere that some places do carry them though. Any ideas?

If u can read Chinese, that Taobao.com will help. u can hardly buy hd-dvds from the pirated dvd stores of the city.
it's about RMB6 or 7 per piece. as i know many Chinese hd-dvds fans download films from the web site .

HD-DVD's that you download have reduced quality though they're better than the 5-6 RMB ones you can buy in the streets. I usually buy 10,- RMB DVD's in a shop in Pudong and they're DVD to DVD copies and of very high quality with DTS!

I haven't seen any HD-DVD's here yet and a friend of mine said that those from Taobao and other websites are not the real ones (just DVD to DVD copy)

yes, many have been reduced to 720p from 1080i or 1080p,such as from Verycd or sorta.
the best place for downloading hdtv is silu. but can hardly imagine u can get one from it as u can read non-chinese.
copies on Taobao are REAL hd-dvds, i wonder why horsemandk's friend say so. i'v got 50 pieces from Guangdong province via Taobao, each pieces works well, r there any differents between dvds and dvd copies while the files on them are the same .ts ?

If you have a look on your computer the disc should have 15 GB of DATA on it! They usually reduce the quality but keep the resolution to make it fit on regular dual layer DVD's!

ppl usually cut one film into 3-4 pieces, e.g, The professional is composed by 4 DVDs.

The nearest thing you can buy here are DVD 9's.
View the movie before you buy.
I have bought a copy of "The Departed" in DVD9, and it was in HD.
I guess, you can only really check once you watch inyour HDTV.

it's very convenient to check the files on ur DVD is a HD or SD format, there r so many softwares can help u to make the results.
usually the vol of a HD film is about 15G, so u will find a 'pride and prejudice' need 3 pieces of dvd to store in but a SD format need only 1.
