Help!Urgent!!

Postby uniqueme » Fri Oct 13, 2006 8:17 pm

Hi everyone,

I need some urgent help.

My husband is currently working for a company in Beijing (not teaching). However, for various reasons he wishes to change companies. As he doesnt have another position immediately waiting for him, he was wondering if there are any issues he need sto think about concerning hisworking papers.

In his red book (alien working visa) he still has the better part of a year remaining before it expires. If he leaves his current company, can he wait a month and start another position? Or,is he bound to his current company, whereby leaving will make his papers useless?

Thanks in advance.

There are basically two things: the visa and the work permit.

My understanding is that if a person leaves a company, the visa stays valid, but they person must obtain a special release letter from the current employer before a new company can register the person as an employee.

Don't take my word for it. You may wish to send a PM to dragon69 or find some recent posts that discuss this.

Magnolia is correct. As for the work permit, it is invalidated once you leave the employer who obtained it for you.

The visa will be ok.... the work permit can be voided by the company. With the release letter another company or visa agent can get you a working permit.
