can someone recommend me a trustable (where i can give my credit cards details without worrying) online hotel booking website specialized in shanghai? english language is a must ofcourse. thanks

www.elong.com or www.ctrip.com are good online hotel booking website,you can try,I ususlly book the hotel and airline by it.

agoda.com, asiarooms.com I've never had a problem with any hotel booking website.

Or in fact any online transaction at all.

I second asiarooms.com Used them over CNY and was very pleased with the options available too. Just keep in mind it takes like a day for your booking to be confirmed.

Ctrip you don't have to give any credit card details. Not so sure about the others.

With Elong you have to validate your credit card by printing out a validation form, and signing it with a copy of your passport or I.D.

No I don't think so. I paid Ctrip for hotel in full by credit card before I travelled. Flight also.

I thought I remembered something recently about how they'd fixed that problem and you could just do it online now?

Yup - I just booked 3 nights at Kunming hotel next week, no credit card details were required. All my mates used this web site last year when they were getting their visas for beijing and had to submit a hotel booking.
