Housing needed - Xuhui district

Postby amyatwharton » Wed Jan 16, 2008 8:47 pm

Hi!

I'm looking for housing from February through the end of June close to SJTU (dorms are full).

Can anyone suggest an apartment complex in Xu Hui for semester-long rentals?

Or, anyone looking for a roommate? :)

Cheers,

Amy

There are serviced apartments near to SJTU. Depends on what your budget is. Also, are you for certain going to be placed at their Xujiahui campus?

I have no idea what your budget is like, but Huashan Huayuan (华山花苑)at the corner of Huaihai Zhong Lu and Huashan Lu is very close to the university (maybe a 5 minute walk or so), and seems to have a fair few apartments vacant. If you ask around at some of the local estate agents in the area, they should be able to help you (I'm assuming you speak Chinese if you're going to be at the university. If not, you might need someone to help you communicate...)

You should be able to get a shorter contract, though it will probably mean the rent will be slightly higher. I'd guess around 2500 per month for a two room (1-bedroom) or studio apartment. That area around Xujiahui is pretty expensive though, I have to admit; just a suggestion...
