how is City Deli?

looks like they are trying to steal NYC Deli's business and I'm a huge fan of the NYC. However, I'm always willing to try new things.

Any one tried it? how is it?

Where are they located? Or do they just do delivery? Checked the website and the sandwiches look delicious. I wonder if they deliver out to Hongqiao....

seems like a delivery only place but it will be on my agenda to try them out this coming week. :)

have tried them a few times and they are super good - have tried their rueben, philly cheese steak and quesadillas.
imo they hit the u.s. deli food nail right on the head. also, after being out of the states for so long, i kinda forgot what "big" portions are - they do u.s. size portions which means a lot of food. really big and filling sandwiches - guess i've been getting used the the "healthier" sizes places serve up here.

Yeah, I also have tried them a while back, since then I order from them almost every lunch! All their sandwiches are great, just their Mexican food could be a bit better. Definitely worth a try however! :D

Yeah, tried their beef quesadillas. It was big portion and really tasty, love it. Came with sour cream and the only complaint I have is the tomato salsa is too little. Not a major issue anyway.

agree - could be much more salsa with the quesadillas - ran out about halfway through - salsa shoudn't have to be rationed. the sour cream was a nice surprise and enough.

mo salsa, mo betta!

Strange, I ordered from them today around 2pm and delivered about 30 mins later. Impressed by the service - operator spoke good English and prompt delivery. Plus I liked that the wrapped sandwiches in foil and not those environmentally unfriendly boxes that everyone else seems to use. I had turkey club (good) and chicken quesadillas (so-so). Will order from them again.

yeah strange. i got hold of them later in the day via IM but by then I had eaten a 60 rmb Roastbeef sandwich and chilli and chips and pickle and two cokes from Mealbay's delivery of Deli NYC. Oh well, next time

Give it a go today and see how you go. The sandwich was good although I'm not sure that just a turkey club would have been enough. The filling was generous but maybe 'cos I had it on rye not white bread the size of the sandwich was a little small.

ok ok, so i broke into my piggy bank and overspent my week's budget but I ordered from City Deli yesterday via MSN and received a nice Ham and Cheese on Croissant, AND a beef Minestrone soup. It came wth a nice full pickle though not sour enough for me butit was good nonetheless.

Sandwich was tasty and sided well. Soup was a bit too sweet for my taste but serving size was nice an large too. For 65rmb, it was worth getting it delivered so i didnot need to go out in the heat

I finally got the urge to call City Deli last night for some Mexican. Guess what? no Mexican because they ran out of tortillas or something. Instead, I ordered the signature turkey avocado sandwich. Although the sandwich was very good, at 65RMB, it is very pricey. 65rmb is the just the sandwich, nothing else. For sandwiches, I think I'll stick with NYC Deli where 55rmb gets a sandwich, 2 bags of chips, a pickle, cole slaw, soup, and a Dole 100% juice bottle.

The only thing I may still want to try at City Deli is the fajita, but at 80rmb ~USD$10, it better be huge and made of gold. Anyone tried the fajita? worth >USD$10?

I actually order regularly from City Deli becaue they are on MSN so when I remmeber toeat, I order. They are close by to my office so I usually get delivery within 30 mins, 12 mins being the fastest, but I usually order off peak so kinda makes sense. Decent food, reliable to a T. Bit pricier than NYC though.

yeah good customer service too; like Yu888 i use MSN to order. One time they didn't respond for ~1 hour and offered to give me a free sandwich any time I liked.

Good sandwiches, no NYC deli like burrito though.

I'm not sure if it was from City Deli or NYC Deli where I ordered burrito from. I always confuse the two. But what I had was very good, though, and BIG. Oh, wait, I think it's NYC... and I ordered burger from City Deli, which wasn't good (patty was too dry and cheap bread).

Don't order the nachos or quesadilla. Both were small. Both were tasteless. Both were expensive. I'm actually embarrassed to have eaten mine. I haven't tried the other stuff, but from this last experience I am sure I won't give them a second chance.
