Hi All,

According to Lonely Planet guide there is a daily boat that leaves Hangzhou at 5.30pm and gets to Suzhou the next morning, but going up the canal.

Anyone know how to book this? Local travel agents don't seem to have a clue and all want me to join a tour group!!!

I am hoping to take my visiting folks to Hangzhou and Suzhou or somewhere else nearby during Oct 1 holiday week (I know there will be people everywhere!) and would rather not backtrack to Shanghai.

Any other suggestions also welcomed.

i had some friends do the same trip, but they arranged the boat when they got to hangzhou. i recommend calling a travel agent there. best of luck!

Thank you pearltower. Did your friends tell you anything about the boat? Comfortable? Clean? etc.

heard the boat was okay, nothing fancy, but not horrible.
