I am pleased to say that I will be joing you in Shanghai early October, with
a plan to stay in SH at least 3 years. I look forward to meeting you all.

Here is my q's: is it possible to subscribe at bussiness/news magazines such as Harvard Bussiness Review, Foreign Affairs, etc in Shanghai? Also, am I correct to understand that sattelite dishes arent allowed in SH? how does one stay in touch with developments back home? (home is greece, but any western news will do)

Thanks to the internet, foreign news isn't blocked, i can get on all sites from my home country with the latest news.

the interweb & technology is your friend when it comes to maintaining communication.

i use skype to keep in touch with family/friends.
i get podcasts daily - all things considered, morning edition, car talk & more NPR programs... i just have itunes load it on my ipod daily and I listen to them in the car on the way to work.
you can get a Kendal or something similar and i'm sure you can subscribe to magazines/newspapers (a few of my co-workers do this, especially the wives that can't live without those trashy hollywood gossip magazines).

i don't currently use satellite but they have "illegal satellite" for like 1000 rmb (140$)/year and you can get a plethora of new stations and movie stations.

and you can get a VPN which "unblocks" all the blocked sites... search the forum and you'll find all the info you need.

True, it's illegal but not everywhere. They close their eyes for most of the many hanging "ufos" you CAN see here!!!
