I have an original Omega seamaster which is on the blink right now...Do you think its safe to take to to a repair shop for maintenance?

I WILL be taking it to an authentic Omega shop (one near Portman) but still a little concerned.

Has anyone had any experience with getting this done?

Thanks

I was told by an overseas chinese friend that you should not "do" that.

You can go to the real shop, there are many authentic Omega shops in Shanghai. I have a friend that took theirs in with no problems. Actually it was much easier than trying to do it in the States where there are not too many Omega shops.

I have heard stories of the gems being removed and being replaced with fakes at general watch repair places, larger shops in popular areas, but not Omega or other big brand stores. I'd verify the gems, even the small internal ones, before and after.
