Last minute planning for October holidays

Postby kkonopka » Wed Sep 17, 2008 1:55 pm

My boyfriend and I just moved to Shanghai and we don't yet have plans for the October holidays. We really want to travel somewhere; either inside or outside of China is fine. We haven't been able to book anything because we want to make sure my boyfriend has his passport in his possession before we book. He had to relinquish it temporarily to finish up the residence permitting process. He is supposed to get it back this Friday so we would like to book something this weekend.

Are there any travel agencies or websites that you recommend?

Also, are there certain destinations that are easier to travel to last minute?

We are thinking about Harbin, Qingdao, Urumqi, t¡bet, Japan, Korea, or Mongolia.

Thanks!

HangZhou, SuZhou and other neighboring places are always great last minute choices. You can use a private driver to take you to such places or even take a train.

ctrip.com or elong.net are good websites to start a search - they can help you with both domestic and foreign travels.

be prepared to pay a bit extra for travels during public holidays - also, the most popular tourist spots around china will be pretty crowded with chinese tourists, but as long as you don't mind walking in a crowd you'll be fine.

good luck.

Just a wild guess. but destinations outside china might do better than inside.. lots of people travel inside china over the holiday and it might be more difficult.

Might want to see what packages ctrip has.. we got a good deal to Bali a couple years ago that was cheaper than traveling in china - we were planning to go to Yunnan but the for the price of airfare there.. we got airfare plus good hotels in Bali for the week.

Don't go anywhere in China - its is too crowded everywhere especially famous places.

Go outside of China if you don't mind the longer flights.

I got just the place for u.. we are making trip to Xinjiang and have been looking for companions for last few weeks with no success.. Time's running out though so call/sms me on 13564155029 asap.. We leave tmr!

You mayfind there's insufficient time for this but I am now looking for someone to do Fujian in mid Oct. Wanna consider this also?
