is Motel 168 is a Love Hotel in shanghai , coz i read different reviews about his place or maybe Chinese unmarried couples more want to go this hotel because of privacy ?

Motel 168 is a motel just like any other in Shanghai. Many people use that motel because it is inexpensive and clean. I think

I think you will find that people make love in all hotels in Shanghai when they are not screaming in the halls, sleeping, or playing cards.

Motel 168 / 268 is a cheap and usually decent place to stay. I've stayed there a few times for a place to sleep when nee4ding to catch an early flight or train or just while traveling.

As far as making love, I've done it with girlfriends in a few odd places in China. A rooftop one night, staircase...

very popular with the young couples who don't have a place of their own, they charge hourly rates also, Home Inn, 7 days Inn, Haitong.

^Wow, didn't know they charged hourly rates. I guess that puts the original post in perspective a little.

Speaking about "love hotels," I always wonder about the Happy Angel Hotel located on the corner of Ya'an and Fumin Lu.

Keep in mind that short stay - hourly rates aren't really related to sexual activity. It started in China as a way to let people have a place to sleep after lunch. Chinese typically like a nice nap after lunch time, haven't you noticed?

Don't need a hotel for that....can nap on the chair... school desk...ect...sleepingchinese.....

China doesn't have classical love hotels like Japan or Singapore. Motel 168 is a new chain of budget hotels, similar to Jin Jiang Inn's etc.

Compared to other chinese business hotels (where all the things mentioned above will happen too), the rooms of Motel 168 and JJ Inn are usually clean, you get free internet and they mostly don't have that thick ten years old dirty carpet.

Of course, due to mostly convinient locations and price, young chinese couples use it for some private affairs too. However look into any other hotel after midnight, and you see red headed men (too much drinks) with young girls rushing to the lift too.

So, for budget travellers, 168 and JJ Inn are certainly good alternatives. I hope they will spread further across china.
