Medical Tests when you arrive

Postby FamilyToBe » Thu Dec 07, 2006 3:17 am

Hi All
Just wondering if any of you know what is involved with these medical tests which are required within a couple of weeks of entry into China?
We are 5 months pregnant and I'm a little worried about getting tested on
I was wondering if anyone had a link that I can supply to my Obstetrician over here.
Do they generally speak english?
Many Thanks in Advance
Cheers
Jo

It takes about 3 hours, you go in, and work your way through 7 stations. They draw blood (first time I've seen rubber gloves used, then thrown away), check your eyes, check your pulse and blood pressure, do an abdominal ultrasound, the one you would have to worry about is the chest x-ray, but I'm sure they have special arrangements for that.

I think the exam is primarily a cash cow, but I know two people who have had conditions identified and have needed further treatment, so it isn't a complete waste.
