If you are relocating or moving to Shanghai with a dog, you're likely concerned about the import process for pets. PetRelocation.com is a US-based pet transportation company that offers safe, personalized travel arrangements for pets to China -- without quarantine. As one ShanghaiExpat member (and PetRelocation.com customer!) recently posted in another thread:

The company that will move your dog to CHINA WITHOUT a quarantine is called Pet Relocation at www.petrelocation.com.
My husband just moved to Shanghai with my dog and everything went very smoothly! Our dog was delivered to our new home in less than 24hours after she landed in China. The personnel was very nice, professional and helpful! It costs a lot but it is worth it!!

If you are looking for information on moving your pet to China, whether you are moving from the US or any other country, PetRelocation.com is happy to help. You can receive a free consultation and estimate by completing our pet travel request form, or let us know any questions you might have in this thread and one of our PetRelocation Specialists will be happy to answer them!

Below is a testimonial from a recent client whose dog Cupcake we moved from Washington, DC to Shanghai. You can read additional testimonials from happy PetRelocation.com customers here.

Name: Mandy
Pet's Name: Cupcake
From: Washington, DC
To: Shanghai, China

My husband and I recently moved from Washington, DC to Shanghai for a two-year stay with our small dog, Cupcake. We chose to work with PetRelocation.com because of their hands-on approach with the move, allowing us to call with questions at any time, and the wonderful references and assistance I received from former customers who made a similar move from the United States to China.

The service was fantastic and helped with every step along the way, from contacting our vet about the international health certificate and rabies certificate to supplying pre-paid mailing envelopes for the documents to be certified by the USDA. Everything was done in a timely fashion, and even though I was extremely nervous about the separation and trip for Cupcake, everything went smoothly without any issues. Cupcake arrived safely in Shanghai and was immediately happy and ready to play.

This was our first time traveling with Cupcake, and I had a lot of reservations about the service and thoroughly checked references. In the end, my husband and I were completely satisfied with our choice and Cupcake arrived happy and healthy.

We may move to china and I am looking for information. We have a 2 year old dog. I see that you only get around by subway or cab. The kennel I have seen people talking about will be on the opposite side of the city from where we will probably live. Can I take the dog in a cab? How else will I get him to the kennel. I have already requested info from pet relocation. Thanks. We won't know if he will be transferred until later this Spring but need as much info as possible. Moving with three kids and a dog having never moved overseas before is a bit daunting to think about. Thanks again. I am sure I will pop into others forums with a million questions.

Which side are you going to live? By "kennel" you mean the quarantine facility?

Anyway, there is for example
BARK who can help with dog transportation http://barkshanghai.com/
Then buddydog generally can also help you transporting a dog http://www.buddydog.net/index.html
Jialiang can help too http://www.jialiang.com/english/Trading.asp

About other transportation, you are not allowed to transport dogs in busses or the metro. Taxis will take you and your dog if the dog is not that big. It's best to transport the dog in a pet carrier or on your lap as otherwise they may not stop for you or complain that you make their "clean" seats dirty.
If your dog is big you may have a problem transporting it if you don't have your own car.

Thank you. By kennel I meant boarding facility. You have helped alot. He is about 22KG so not a small dog. I would have to use the transportation to get him around. We think we will live in Pudong as it is easy to take subway to places we need to go. If this becomes a reality I am sure we will meet. :)
