But no need in Shanghai...a decent burger here is around $5. And, no, not talking McDonald's or Burger King.

@erin (edit: ninja-ed...) You NEED to? I find that extremely hard to believe...

Pulled up the first Burger restaurant on Yelp..

Granted, it's a food stand, but it's only $4 and rated #1 on Yelp.

$5.09 for bacon burger at Restaurant #2

I'm not saying you can't spend $10 on a burger in NY, I know the sky's the limit, the point is you don't have to. Out here, you would.

Munchies. You'll find their menu on mealbay. But I'd advise going there rather than ordering.
34rmb plus fries...

Let us know what you think. I don't confess to be a burger expert but I just love Munchies and eat there often.

Had Malones today at Pudong... Have to admit that I was expecting more from all the rave reviews... Could have been because it was lunch though, or could have been quality control between locations since their franchised now. It wasn't bad, I just wasn't impressed by... well anything for a 60RMB lunch. Fries were good, nothing spectacular (wedges my friend got looked a lot better) but there were only about 8 of em. Could definitely count on 2 hands. Burger was... not large. Soup was the only thing really "not good", everything else I felt pretty average.

Nothing wrong with the place and I wouldn't be against going there for an event or if friends were dragging me alone, but I'm not going to be craving it anytime soon.

And now I'm thread jacking... over to the food forum for me!

yeah, munchies is good and exceptionally cheap for shanghai. You should check it out. By far, the cheapest burger around outside of Bk, Mcdonalds, etc. i'm with nrgfink on this one, most places charge between 60-100RMB
I think it's probable that those places noted in NY are the same deal, well below the average price. The people on the comment boards also state this.

If you got to ask, you should re-read your contract, are you sure it says 115k USD, not 115k RMB? Based on the current exchane rate, it won't make much difference anyway... :)

Also be aware the costs associated with your monthly medical insurance premiums will be added into your income and fully taxed here.
