Moving to Shanghai from London - removal recommendations??

Postby owenkeats » Thu Dec 03, 2009 7:42 am

Hi All

Can anyone recommend a good removals company from the UK (london) to Shanghai? We are kind of in the dark about it at the minute and need some help!!

Also, any tips.advice on moving would be great!

Thanks

Just a question - what you like to move from L to S ? Keep in mind, in Shanghai, furniture maybe cheaper in times. Take your notebook, passport, maybe wife and come in !

Used Seven Seas Worldwide when I moved in Sept, boxes arrived safely after about 8 weeks, price and service is reasonable, would recommend you to give them a call.

BTW, it isn't necessary to move everything from UK as you can find most of the stuff, maybe at different price. Depends on how long you gonna stay here and how many of you will be living here, couple of boxes should be maxium.

Moving to Shanghai

If you are looking for an economical way to send your goods from the UK to Shanghai, I would suggest below:

A. Simplifying the things that you intend to take to Shanghai as most of things for life can be acquired here when you arrive. Most of the household items are subject to import duty and tax here in Shanghai if you choose to send them by ocean, which is why it is not recommendable to take too many furniture along.

B. If you are simply sending some small and miscellaneous items, try those internatonal courier services rather than approaching those big movers, as the price they charge will almost let you buy everything in the shipment.

Wish you a smooth relocation to Shanghai!
