Sci-tech one is probably better but nanjing rd is more convenient. all filled with annoying pestering sales people but pricing better in Pudong. the new section of the Pudong one has tailors and such now too.

Will take exception Yu.

Went to both the S and T and the Nanjing Lu with two visitors from the US in Feb.

S/T....damp depressing and not much variety. They bought nothing.
Nanjing...Better/more varied selection. Sporting goods, bags, golf/sports equipment, toys, software. They were much happier there, Tourists, so the slightly higher prices were irrelevant. They thought they got the deals of a lifetime....

Prefer the Nanjing Lu. To each his own!!
Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer.....Dave Barry

I prefer the S&T. Everything I have seen at Nanjing plus more seems to be available there. The layout of the shops are better at Nanjing but if you go beyond the A/B/C/D halls at S&T, that is where the "different" items can be found. Prices tend to be higher than Nanjing on Weekends in S&T because they have heavy foreigner traffic. Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday can get better pricing at S&T than Nanjing when the vendors need to make sales to pay their bills.

Comparing the A/B/C/D halls at S&T to Nanjing, I would agree Nanjing is better. If you know your way around the additional sections at S&T and shop on their off days, then my vote is for better shopping and better pricing at S&T.

To each their own.

Did I miss something when I went there?

What area are you talking about, and define different in a very in depth explanation?

Yeah i was wondering what "Different" meant. To me, the quotation marks seem to denote that the items there are supposed to be different but weren't.

I'll be sad if that's what it means.

Thats just what quotation marks mean to me, but it doesn't seem like what he was implying.
