National Coaches - professional sports

Postby kizza08 » Mon Sep 04, 2006 12:05 am

can anyone answer this question

why is it pretty much half the countries out there competing for world championships has a coach of another country .... to give you an example look at Guus Hiddink .... national coach of Holland, Korea, Australia and now Russia .... I understand if a person has migrated to another country and therefore taken allegence to another nation but some coaches like Guus hadnt set foot in Australia until a few weeks before their first exhibition game ......

I dont see how this should be allowed but its everywhere.... today i was watching womens softball and saw that the Chinese coach is actually a fat american guy who cant even speak chinese ....!!!!! A coach is so vital to any team sport and given the circumstances i dont see how you can claim patriotism this way !!! Its just wrong

Each country is trying to locate the best coach and it's that simple. There is no difference between being a coach and being a worker, coaching is a job and you should do your job in the best possible way.

Language has nothing to do with building a good team, training and ways of training is!

I'm training Chinese in Archery here in Shanghai, they can't speak English, but I can still train them and they do improve.

Patriotism; well if you work in China I could say the same thing about you if you weren't Chinese because your salary would probably be equal to the salary of a whole department of Chinese.

so if you say that being a coach is a job like any other ..... you are putting a player in the same context ....

your saying coaches are ONLY jobs .... but if you put it that way then being a professional sportman is a real job so if they can get coaches from other countries why cant they get other players !!! when you represent a country .... coaching is a job and should be done to the best of your ability .... and if you cant do it then the team will go and find another one who can.... but we are talking about national pride, blood sweat and tears and did i not mention patriotism !!! you still havent given me a clear answer ....

your right in that spoken language is not a major factor in teamwork, group cohesion, training and improvement ... but when i said that about foreign coaches i was just stating a fact that they dont know anything (or very little) about the country that they REPRESENT!!!

Yes, the player is the same, they get paid to represent their country especially in China. If you compare a Chinese athlete to a European one you'll see that most of the European start athletes actually have a job besides their training (except pro soccer and boxing)

Countries can have players from other countries, this is happening all the time. People that a country consider highly skilled, will be offered a passport and citizenship, just look at the famous Chinese playing soccer in MU, he will probably be offered this option if they can't settle the problem in Holland, thus China will loose one of their biggest talents ever, that is if he will agree.

Pride for a trainer is to see his team or athlete win and it doesn't matter where in the world he's training. Right now I'm proud of the Chinese I'm training and they're kicking ass right now compared to the foreigners.

Patriotism is American in my opinion and America is all about double and tripple standards. Patriotism is most commonly used when there is a war and I don't see any war, YET.

 Supporters ( of a particular nation) shows their patriotism , by cheering and shouting, the whole show around the match.

 Players, of any kind of (team) sport shows their patriotism during the game in the field or track or anywhere; showing their gutz , and the wil to win.

Coaches can do little during the match. They are "behind " the team. Coaches don't need "patriotism" . They need knowledge and experience; teaching the young ones.

In my opinion is "patriotism" a feeling which is personal for anybody.
Personally i do not need that , practizing my sport. On the ohter hand; if I watch a World.Championschip / Olympics etc . I feel a patriot as a big fan for the native sportsmen/ women or team.
