Hi -

Where do we find affordable short-term housing? Will probably need it for 1-2 months until we find something long term. Ideally either a studio or a 1 bedroom, near the French Concession or JingAn. We found some "service apartments" but they are quite expensive. Budget is around $1000-1500/mo. We don't need maid service or concierge, but proximity to subway would be nice.

Does anyone have recommendations where to look?

i stayed here 6 months. not central but right on line 2 and has city shop wagas ect. price for what you get was best i could find anywhere in shanghai.

i would check craigslist just in case someone is subletting something that meets your criteria. i did this when i first arrived here and it worked out well.

Thanks for all the great recommendations!! We reviewed the places, and while they look fine for me, my other half wants something a little more central and nicer... Any thoughts on what $US 2k/mo budget would get in the French Concession / Jing An area? Only one bedroom is needed but he prefers something a little nicer...

I hope it is not too late. I saw this site and thought of your requirements. One Park, 8 Park and Jing An Four Seasons are all very downtown, in Jing An. Hope you can find something... Just write them an email, if you still need an apartment. Best of luck!
