Need an Apartment for rent

Postby naveenh » Wed Sep 16, 2009 5:02 pm

Hello All,
I would like to rent an apartment with atleast 2 BR. I am on a low budget, i have also searched the internet for listings but I have only found apartments in the range of 3000 USD or 2500 USD which is very expensive for me. I am looking the range of 2500 to 3000 RMB.

Actually I am moving from Suzhou to Shanghai with family, so I would like to get into a decent community. My work place is in Pudong close to Line 4.
So if any of guys know where I can look for listings or contact any real estate guys, please do let me know.

Regards
Naveen

http://cityspace.shanghaiexpat.com/search.php?type2=1&type=1&sh_city=163&sh_district=174&sh_size=-1&sh_currency=2&duration=3&price_min=0&price_max=5000&sh_submit_date=-1&keyword=&property_search=Search

That will be a tough one, but not impossible. You will need to visit the neighborhood near where you want to live and talk to the real estate shops in those neighborhoods. You will probabliy need someone to speak and read chinese if you don' t.. the other alternatives are have some who reads chinese check the online chinese language sites and contact agents for you. Probably will not find anything like what you are asking listed in english anywhere.

Recommend that you look around Dalian Lu as a friend just found a similar acco around there. Line 4 is there on Dalian Lu.

Else look around Line 6 in Pudong and you should be able to find one for urself.

Hi,

I am working in Real Estate Company in Pudong, and I am living in Hongkou for two years, line 4 Linping lu,...not far from Dalian lu indeed..downtown 30 min by bus or subway, and soon new line 10...direct from Hongkou to Hongqiao...via nanjing lu etc...

Lot of foreigner here, and good residency to live for a cheaper price than traditionnal expat Area

A little advice on our experience with Anjuke. Most of my agents in the office have totally given up on co-operating with the agents on this site as 70-80% of the adverts are fake and we just end up wasting people's time cause the propery we end up is nowhere like the one advertised. Good ole bait'n'switch just like Craigslist.

Best to go the newest buildings in the area that you are looking to live and around these will be little real estate agencies. Whilst they mainly handle sales they will have rentals on their books as well. Bear in mind they usually haven't seen inside the property and only know the basics.....size, beds, price, floor and block. However, ask them to call landlord and research alot more about the interior...furnishings, renovations, style, previous tenants etc...

Have a look at our Advice on Leasing on our homepage as it has some tips on what should be involved in negotiations.

Hope all goes well.
