Need an October National Holiday Holiday

Postby pawre » Mon Aug 03, 2009 8:06 pm

Hi all, what are you doing October holiday? I know very bad of me to leave it till now. Really I'm usually more organised! :)

Any recommendations on a good TA with flights, tours or whatever.

Am open to going anywhere!!

Do you think HK would be crazy? How about Sanya - although don't really want to stay in the Mainland however never have before during national holidays.

Thanks for your help!

Actually Sanya is an island so it's not part of the mainland. I'm sure it's fine in October. HK should be busy but be okay. It's a long holiday so you could choose to go slightly later to avoid the main rush.

Thailand is always easy, Vietnam, Japan. Pretty much wherever you want really.

Sanya can be pretty busy during the National Holidays. It has got good beaches, but that is about all it has. I have been there a few times though as it is much more affordable than Thailand, Bali, Japan...etc....etc.
The hotels are fantastic for the money and I would recommend a lagoon room at the Crowne plaza. You can swim straight off your patio to the wet bar.....Cool!!

It gets crowded everywhere in the National Holiday. Many times that I wish I had stayed home.

I'll be up for a trip out of China during October national holiday.

I've been to most of SE Asia at this point, except for Burma.

Anyone up for Burma / Myanmar? I was thinking of some city and some village for the trip.

I am used to booking and planning my trips out independantly. Seems that most local chinese find incredible bargains when working with travel agents. Any English friendly travel agents that will arrange for flights only (no hotel or tour)?

Myanmar - Yangon and a river cruise up to Mandalay is perfect.

Koh Samui is ok if you survive the landing at the airport.

Direct flights to Istanbul and New York now as well.
