Newegg - steer clear

Postby findus » Tue Feb 14, 2012 7:30 pm

Bought a mouse from Neweggcn recently. Unpacked it and this is what I got:

:party::

I've ordered 5 items from them in the last few years, this is the 3rd item out of 5 that's been very clearly pre-used despite being advertised as new. No more chances, you thieving gypsy fcukstain turds.

(I've ordered 6 or 7 items from 360buy in the same time period, everything arrived brand new).

Steer clear of Newegg.

I had no idea gypsies where selling electronic products in China. That is truly appalling.
Have you called Shanghaimamas? Maybe there was more to this then just a used product?

Not necessarily used. Just a 2nd or perhaps it was handled by one of those long fingernailed locals. Also, the couriers here tend to throw packages around quite roughly which could account for some of the damage.

If it had been used, those slider pads on the bottom would be shinny and heavily marked. They are dull, therefore the mouse is new.

I bought a new MX revolution mouse from MediaMarkt. When I got it home I noticed the package had been opened and the rubber grips were full of scratch marks from stupid Chinese shoppers. I took it back.

I have bought countless different things from newegg for the past year or so, never any issues. Not sure what their return policy is, but I'm pretty sure you can exchange it if you just got it.

It looks like the package was crushed or pressed against other objects, thus causing such marks on the mouse. When you receive the delivery, was the packaging box ok? Your mouse looks pretty new and un-touched, just badly scratched.. either before or after they packaged into a box for delivery.

I'm aware that the photos don't show it completely clearly. The mouse is in no way scratched by packaging, mishandling or long fingernails. It's 100% used, 2nd-hand.

Kalan, I'm not sure what drugs you're on these days, but the pads are clearly marked and have 'usage gunk' on them, even in the unclear photos. The scratches are not superficial. There's 'gunk' in the cracks of the mouse too, the likes that you get after prolonged usage.

^^Trolling Findus???

Anyway, my mice looked like this straight out of the package:
Image

On the left. a just opened mouse. I lightly scratched one pad on the bottom of the left one using my thumb nail. The one on the right is 2 months old. Notice how shiny the pads are.

In your pics you don't show or talk about gunk buildup. If there is indeed "gunk" then that points to use, but perhaps you are just saving face by providing such info now? In your pic I reposted above, it is very easy to see superficial scratches in new unused running pads. Probably those were made when packaging or unpackaging took place. They aren't really scratches but simply lines made in the residue layer coating the new rubber/plastic. Also notice how shinny the pads are on the 2 month old mouse. Even if only used for a day, they will become shiny. I have 2 more used mice and one unopened one so my little example can be repeated if need be.

Having bought 2 Logitech mice here I can attest to the fact that the pads on the bottom are marked out of the package and there are often scratch marks on the plastic on the bottom. I figure it happens at the factory and QC pulls these out form export shipments. You can see a couple scratches on the bottom of my Logitech mouse pictured above. They were there when I opened the package. The Logitech mice I bought in Canada were always spotless.

Findus, perhaps you might consider a different and more acceptable way of expressing yourself, like this

Here's my dilemma: This is a true story but some brand names have been changed to protect the innocent...

About 5 days ago I was wanting to buy a new mouse where I brought a keyboard last time. Whilst this is not uncommon, a very attractive ad caught my eye ....

How much was it? and won't it look like that after about two weeks of use anyway? In the time it took you to take the photos and write the post; you could have drank a beer and rubbed one out.

I would have just bitched that it arrived effed up and made them send another one.

I buy a lot of stuff off of Newegg, and they're pretty good with returns, even with stuff thats months old.

If you are unhappy with your guesstimate 30rmb mouse purchase, then tell them, and they'll send another kuaidi guy with another one. I don't think its obviously used, I think its the Logitech factory not doing a great job cleaning it. Mostly as mice are made in the millions, and they cost about 5rmb each wholesale.. you pay 30 for branding more than anything else..

send it back within 14 days and you are fine. refund or another of the same thing.
Always check the packages when you get them, basic stuff really.
If it looks bad then refuse to accept it.
Problem solved.

I've spent thousands on stuff at newegg in china and all have been good with quick delivery etc.
