Nice Service Apartments in Pudong

Postby Loganth » Fri Dec 21, 2007 12:31 am

Hi All,

I will be staying in a serviced apartment in Shanghai for a month while I go around looking for a permanent place to live in. Can anyone recommend some nice 2-bedroom serviced aparment in Pudong? I have heard that the Ascott Residence and the Marriott Service Apartments @Union Square are quite nice and clean.

CHEERS!

You can also check Shimao Riviera Garden at Weifang West Road, it has a gym, pool, bowling lane, outdoor pool, tennis court, saloon.

if only for a month, why not stay in a 5 star hotel. The Shangrila and Marriot are new and in the main part of Pudong. IMHO Shimao Riviera Garden is falling apart, the older buildings are 3 years old and the problems are building up faster than they can fix them. The newer buildings may be OK. I am biased, i just moved out of there, and I'll never go back mostly because of the management company not the complex itself.
To get good recommendations you need to specify a budget, then you need to understand the difference between the laowai price and the real price, and learn that you can buy your own service for 20% of what a management company will sell it to you for, for that savings you only get a little less convenience.

My budget would be my housing allowance which is about US$7,000 per month. Don't really want to stay in a hotel room for one month, would prefer a serviced apartment. I'm looking for newer properties in central Pudong (where the financial district is) because that's where I'll be working.
