Anyone tried this? They deliver within 3km and prices seem decent.

yeah they're pretty good. had a roast beef sandwich last week and it was great and i believe they are quite lenient on delivery to places that are beyond 3km

who says their prices are decent? For the same price i can have a much better sandwich at Subway. Moreover a SUBWAY branch is just two minutes from their outlet.

I think they should drop their prices by atleast 25% if they want to remain in business.

Disagree totally with that - NYC is miles better. Real cheese, real turkey slices and real pastrami. Not the processed meats and the processed cheese you get at Subway.

They've opened not 5 minutes walk from my place of work and I'm really happy.

there is defintiely no accounting fro taste, or lack there of, and Subway sanwiches defintiely fall under the bland catagory. Processed meats in small healthy serving sizes vs NYCDeli's 160 grams of real roast beef or pastami? Sorry Gunjan but we obviously have different tastes in sanwiches.

well this place is just a few meters away from my office and i have been to this a couple of times. Apart from the prices, the hygiene level are pretty low. Last time i saw the guy preparing my sandwich with bare hands and that was the last time i went in there. probably it's better if you order cause you do not know where and how it's been prepared.

If it takes a few hours for delivery then they can get stuffed. I can't believe someone would prepare food with their bare hands. I mean, who does that?

ok, point taken.

but had you explianed that in the first place it would have better backed up your statement. Thanks for the useful background info. Good news is that the place is run by someone who will likely read this so hopefully they can make some changes. that said, most kitchens in Shanghai are pretty dismal.

Every chef in every FIVE STAR restaurant uses his or her bare hands when preparing food.

I understand your point... I am sure they do not have CHEFS preparing the sandwhiches...but everytime you buy a pizza from anywhere, they use their bare hands when they put the cheese and other ingredients on top, etc etc etc.

Lets look at your original post, Gunjan:

It was all about PRICE... ONLY when you were confronted did you have to come up with some lame bulls**t to save face... which is totally unneccessary because you do have the right to think they are too expensive for your budget.. nothing wrong with that.

My colleagues all had somewhat of a disappointed look on their face when the NYC Deli delivery arrived. For some there was cheese everywhere except on their sandwich. And they hardly looked like the lush pictures online. I didn't partake in today's order but will give them ago and report back soon...

If you like curry chicken sandwich, you should visit House of Flour at zhangjiang. Great curry chicken ciabatta. I had it once a week.

No. But idiotic comments do bring out my sarcastic side. [unnecessary expletives deleted-next time the whole post].

I would give NYC Deli a 6/10 on a Shanghai scale. Pretty good but not nearly as good as I expected.

Tried it, not bad...... Just a thought. The sandwich bread seems very cheap quality.... :(
I don't mind to pay few RMB more on the sandwich if they got a good bread to match the filling.

What a friggin' joke -- same as Nangka --

Called to place an order and OUT OF BREAD!

"Sorry..maybe you can try back tomorrow!"

As if they can't tell they are running low earlier in the day and either MAKE SOME MORE or GO BUY SOME!!!!!!!!!!

Absolute fu**ing idiots.

It's legit crap like this that pisses me off, not whether they answer their phone in English or not.

Been to city diner twice and love it. Was jonesing for a reuben ( and a brew) and such was my expectation, it could have been a disaster....it wasn't, not even a tremor. Great taste, great value. Mind you, on both occasions , mid afternoon, it was dead but as a result service was attentive!!!!

yeah, whatever.. take the city diner conversation to the city diner thread...

Finally got my food from NYC Deli and have to say I was very happy. Sure, I KNOW its different for people from other countries, and if you haven't lived in NYC where sandwhiches are a big part of your culinary life, it may not be impressive... but it was really nice to have a taste of home.

Had both the super meaty Pastrami on wheat and the hot Roast Beef with melted provolone on sourdough, and the potato salad. Was amazed at how much meat they put on the pastrami sandwhich... at least 3-4 times the amount of meat found on a foot long Subway sandwhich. The potato salad was perfect and the roast beef sandwhich was so delicious.

I do agree completely with BTBT about the bread -- it was stale on both sandwhiches, which was a let down, but not enough to destroy being momentarily taken away to Manhattan :)

Had my second NYC experience today. Thumbs down. Took an hour and a half to arrive, and they forgot my potato salad. They bread was completely stale and has left me with a sore jaw.

Boo.
