Old Chinese women

Postby zam » Sun Nov 27, 2011 11:03 pm

Just curious why most of old Chinese women got curly hair as compared to young girls who mostly have straight hair? Is it a natural transition because of age or what?

It has to do with Asian hair qualities. Once a woman reaches a certain age in Asia it is no longer socially acceptable to have long hair; it is a sign that they are trying to appear young and is somewhat frowned upon, so they op for the mature shorter crop. But due to the nature of Asian hair being flatter and harder than Western counterparts, they need to build in volume so it does not look awful. The perm is a natural solution.

^ What is the "certain age" at which it is no longer socially acceptable for a Chinese woman to have long hair? Thirty?

Hair loss seems to be common amongst older Chinese ladies, a perm would help to cover the thinning.

the problem is that because of the nature of asian hair in general asian women with perm look AWFUL OR they are going to a cheap salon and they are burning their hair with bad products (that could be another option).

It's still the 1950's in China when it comes to older lady hair!

I saw three of these ladies this morning, walked past them on the way to work. They all had the fried perm and one had it coloured red with black roots coming through.
But what is the alternative? A well cut bob, short to shoulder length, might be a much nicer option. Soft and gentle large curls will look better on some. If you are going to dye your hair either please keep up the maintenance or over-dye to the original colour, it looks horrendous otherwise.

You know what I have noticed in China when it comes to women. The more well off they are, the better their bodies look. Must be nutrition. When a "peasant" Chinese woman reaches about 50, she starts to become squat and square looking. The features just become blob like. That sounds so horrible!

But a Chinese woman who has access to better nutrition can retain her youthful appearance much longer.

In Western countries, women as they age mostly just get really fat unless they are on top of it regularly. For people over 40 it actually only takes about 2 weeks to totally mess up your diet and weight if you are not being careful. Men and women!

^^Gel, for sure. Poor nutrition as children certainly sets up some negatives both intellectually and physically later on. In the west, men and woman suffer over-nutrition or rather excess of calories leading to cubic proportions and chronic illness related to obesity. Low calorie intake is attributed to longevity but to avoid malnutrition the quality of those reduced calories needs to be high.

Excess calories and/or poor quality food, either way its a case of diminishing returns.

If you want to see what your GF is going to look like in 20 + years time take a look at her mother.

^^ Anter... yes I agree. It always fascinates me to see this in different countries. I read about a certain area of Japan that has the highest amount of elderly in the world. Their main staples is sweet potatoes and tofu. When I was in Ireland in October, I learned that during the famine and before, the Irish only really ate potatoes and milk and were somewhat healthy.

Sorry normal... it is not going to happen! hahahahahaha

Not only among older women. Have noticed several 20-30ish women with obvious balding at the roots.

My daughter makes sure I meet her BF's. When she was in High School I learnt the acronym MILF from her, in relation to me said by her male buddies at school. I was  and shocked.

Stress or lack of good nutrition would cause that.
