So who has an opinion on this idiot?

Book review below.

http://shanghaiist.com/2008/01/30/book_review_ame.php

Actually he replies to his critics himself in the comments below the review and doesn't sound like such a bad guy.

But what about the whole idea of uncle tom foreigners? I reckon they are a very real sub-group of the foreign population.

And yeah. . . I reckon if you use the term 'laowai' to refer to yourself (particularly when speaking Chinese) then you are at high risk of belonging to this group.

I notice that most Chinese in New Zealand are educated enough to use 'yangren' in writing, and usually simply 'Kiwi' in speaking (which is odd because in English 'Kiwi' isn't exactly a racial term - more cultural really).
Naturally, I finished my set. . .

Is Wally a lazy pronounciation of Waldo?
I hope so because I've been looking for him for years.

Most of the complainers about the book are basing their opinion on the review, not the actual book.

Is it about Wally the Walrus ? Wasn't that a book or a movie ?

Not SHExpat Walrus .. another Walrus. Maybe his cousin ..

Was Wally a Walrus? Do they even have Walruses in Shaolin? Wow, I'm getting my arse there, seems like they have Burger King too!

I want to break some wood and stuff with my head and learn how to fly kick. Yeah, this is my Chinese New Year resolution.

I can't post much anymore, I've taken a job as Exhalted Super Number 1 Ayi Manager at the local Shaolin monestary, which I understand is a very prestegious position, and they frown upon this interweb thing (I agree of course). They've promised to teach me 5000 years of super secret iron harmony dragon strength tiger skills. I have to learn 88 levels of enlightenment first, each level has a task assigned to it. The first task involves my wally, some rope, and 2 taxis. I am eager to begin learning!

Anyone over the age of 12 who has an interset in "kung fu" is a bit of an oddball in my opinion. Doubly odd if they also play computer games.

Why aren't there any books written about what most blokes here get up to - banging chicks? Is it cos they don't want their wife to find out?

^ funny u say that, my mate who is nuts, so psycho, n friggin hard has lost the plot. anxiety attacks, agrophobia, depression. all kinds of ****. friggin funny except if u were his friend from b4.

he'd been prescribed handfuls of unnecessary anti-depressants over the months they were diagnosing him. they only lasted me 3 days, how friggin depressing do u think that was? especially as i was tripling up with booze n K.
