I am an architect working in shanghai and i've noticed that there is a real trend to redeveloping old, warehouse/factory areas into new cool areas housing cafes, restaurants, bars and in many cases artists studios. i'm talking about places like...

Red Town on Huahai Xi Lu,
the New Factories in Jing'an,
Bridge 8 at Jianguo Zhong Lu,

does anyone know if there are any more of these types of places?

i know there is a development similar to xintiandi in hangzhou (does anyone know the name?) but if there are any others in other parts of the country I would love to know about them.

I think the hangzhou area is actually called xintiandi also.

The one in Hangzhou is right by the lake. Might have been developed by the same folks who developed Xintiandi in Shanghai.

Try Ferguson Lane on Wukang Road - not a very old property, but renovated with a nod to Art Deco. Houses Frank and Coffee Tree restaurants, cool clothing and retail shops, wine shops and a spa on the top floor with an outdoor terrace.
