A place to find discussions on health care in Shanghai.

ouch my ankle!

Postby sylvie_ng » Sat Sep 03, 2005 9:28 am

I twisted my ankle yesterday night :(
It's not the first time but it is in Shanghai and it's painful..

(slippery floor + heels = bu hao!)

Never been to a doctor here, do you think Huashan hospital is good ?

Or is there another place, if possible with English spoken doctors? What about the price ?

Thanks

If its only twisted then elevate it and stick some ice in it. After a day or so, start treating it with heat,
When you need to start walking on it, make sure you strap it up well.

Hi thanks, I put some ice but need a real good bandage, I have nothing at home.
So trying to find a doctor! At Ruijin, they understood "my uncle" ^^ and no appointment till Monday.
I told them it's an emergency! aaaah will try other places.

You have probably found a doctor by now but for future reference. I've been to Shuguang Hospital on Pu An Lu a few times for minor stuff (needed flu medicine). They are alright and have some English speaking doctors in the non VIP wards. Best to go with someone who speaks Mandarin though.

Otherwise, there is always Worldlink, consultation cost RMB 600.
why not take your damn orange juice and use it as an enema.

Thanks Anniboodk,
I went to Huashan. Nothing special : they did X-ray but nothing broken. I paid 350 for consultation and 240 for radio.

For Worldlink, I checked the cost : 800RMB - probably because of the week end time..
