Part time job fa piao?

Part time job fa piao?

Postby keeyoung » Sat Nov 25, 2006 11:37 am

I have been offered a part time teaching job wih a reputable company, Carrefour, but they told me I need to give them a fa piao when they pay me. I have never heard of this before, in my past jobs the only fa piao I've ever needed is for housing allowance. For that you go to a real estate office and pay five percent of your rent. Does anyone know what this fa piao is and where I can get one?

I'm not sure if what they want is to get out of tax respinsibilities, or actually legitimate for accounting reasons. I don't mind paying for it, it's worth it for the job, I've just never heard of that kind of fa piao and don't know where to get one. Thanks for the help.

When we employee outside people for goods or services, we usually require them to provide a fa piao, but that's because we are dealing with other companies.

In your case, however, we would pay you directly as an outside employee. It would be your responsibility to pay any taxes you owe as a result. There are some companies, however, who would withhold a flat 10% in taxes and then provide you with a tax receipt.

Perhaps Carrefour thinks you are a company?

Thanks for the reply. They know I'm just an individual. Like I said, I've had many other teaching jobs and never had one requested before. I think what they want is just a reciept saying that I recieved such and such amount of money from them. But since they said it has to be a fa piao, I think its going to have to be shady some how.

Maybe not shady, but probably more like they're anal retentive or incompetent if they don't know how to put payments to you without a fa piao on their books.

Could you ask them for clarification and advice on how to obtain a fa piao? Of you could buy a fake one to give them.

I never pay attention to where I find these people, but they are everywhere. Look for cell phone numbers painted on walls or sidewalks. Many of those cell phone spam messages you get are selling fake fa piaos, ID cards, Beijing Univ. degrees and just about anything else imaginable.

It also seems a little strange to me too......I can also help you out with an invoice but I think you should try to go the fake route first. Quite easy actually......Just go down to Shanghai Railway station for a 30 minute walk and listen for the silent whisper.....fapiao....fapiao. Your problems should be solved in no time with a nice book full of them.

As i think, U can apply to local tax office for a kind of receipt for labor cost, that is "代开劳务费发票证明"(dai kai lao wu fei fa piao zheng ming) when u declare your income.

Isn't this a tax receipt rather than a fapiao a company needs for purchases?

It's a fapiao, which the company can deduct its corporate income tax with. Actually i guess that's the reason they ask for it.

There are several kinds of tax receipts. The one you described is a receipt that an individual paid their income tax. A company can not deduct the income tax you paid from their corporate taxes.

What the original poster is talking about is the receipt for services performed or goods provided from one company to another. Failing that, a receipt that the company in question bought deductible goods and services from a commercial outlet.

Sorry for i mentioned the word "receipt". it's a huge mistake.Actually, it's an invoice.(fa piao). The tax office can issue u a fapiao and give u a tax bill receipt by the same time.Taxpayer as Keeyoung can hold his receipt and give the fapiao to the company in question. Then the company can get a deduction from its corparate income tax in the name of training fees. I understand absolutely what u meant above, but the procedure i refered is practical.By the way, I work in tax office, and hoping chat with anyone anything about tax in China.:)(my En isn't good enough and i always make mistakes.)

No, it's not an invoice. It's a receipt. Fa piao doesn't normally mean invoice. It means receipt. I don't know why every person in China insists on making the same mistake by calling it an invoice.

Now, if I have income that I haven't paid income tax on, I am supposed to go to the tax bureau and tell them and pay the income tax directly to the tax bureau. They will issue me a tax receipt (fa piao). This tax receipt cannot be then given to another company as a fa piao for money they pay for my labor.

What the company that paid me wants is a fa piao (tax receipt) that normally they'd receive from a supplier of goods and services for the total sum of any money they've paid for the goods or services. Can the tax bureau give that to me so I may give that to my customer even though I am just an individual?

Q: After providing some service to a company, can I apply for a fa piao from tax bureau as an individual so that the company can use it in accounting.
A:In this case, u can apply to the local tax office to issue a fa piao.

It'll be too much labor for the text after.
Hope u can read a little Chinese, and my explanation can make a little sense.

The tax receipt is not fapiao, it is called 个人所得税完税证明(ge ren suo de shui wan shui zheng ming).

Let me see if I understand.

I can perform some service for a company that is valued at, for example, 10,000 RMB. I am not a company, so I can not issue a fa piao directly. I can go to the tax bureau and explain my situation and they will give me a fa piao for 10,000 RMB that I can give to the company. I must pay the tax bureau the tax on that 10,000 RMB before they give me that fa piao.

Is that correct?

Ok. Then that is really good. It will help a lot if independant consultants.

Now, another question: A foreigner is only legally allowed to earn income in China if they have a "Z" work visa. How can the tax bureau let me give a fa piao to a company when it is illegal for me to work?
