Personal Health Care Outsourcing Limitations???

Postby phiota » Tue Oct 03, 2006 2:27 pm

Moving back to the states in a few month with the main worry there vs here being health care costs ($3000/24000Y just for an ambulance ride of course can't come here for that  ). Just wondering if you have read or heard of any limitations on China/Shanghai health care (for expats/foreigners/wealthy chinese). What kinds of drugs/medication/medical devices/proceedures are not sold or practiced here?

You can get anything you want here as long as you have the cash or insurance to pay :-)

Some of the high-end procedures aren't available in Shanghai. Also, I heard from a med student that post-op patient care is a real problem. Some surgeons are top notch, but the hospitals have a hard time keeping patients infection-free.

From what I've experienced, the newer contact lenses (ie 2 week disposible, higher water content, or toric) aren't available here. Also, foreign-produced drugs are almost non-existent.
