Plane Tickets to US

Postby psychodrew » Tue May 15, 2007 3:22 pm

Am I calling the wrong people or flights to the US hard to find and way overpriced this summer. I called the same airline for basically the same flights on almost the same days as a year ago and I am getting quoted a price 50% higher than what I paid a year ago. Other airlines are the same or say their are no economy seats left. Should I just wait and try to find something in July or just bend over now and take it? Anybody have any suggestions?

Have you tried booking with a US travel agent? I book most of my flights to north america through our Canadian travel agent, what's the price you're getting quoted and where are you heading?

I'm flying into Orlando in July and out of Pittsburgh in August. Last year, I paid 8000 for this route. This year, same route, same airline, same time of year and the cheapest ticket I've found is 11,600. Every airline tells me that the outbound flight is what is making it so expensive. Should I gamble and wait until July to see if I can get a last minute seat? Everybody keeps telling me that late July is peak season, but enough to drive the prices up almost 50%?

I was talking to some folks that work for the airlines and they all concurred that the flights during this peak season are horendously booked up and pricing is what it is because there are not enough flights to handle the volume. Best case are mid-week flights transferring through Hong Kong. Good luck.

The flights are so much more expensive than last year. I don't think the price will drop at all during the summer time. I wish I thought of transferring via HK two months ago, I probably would have saved myself a few hundred bucks. :(
