Puxi to Pudong or Hongqiao?

Postby mrc » Thu Jan 21, 2010 10:00 pm

Currently in the French Concession but feel we need to move be nearer the next school our child will attend.

I am in two minds which is the best direction to go.

Schools we are keen on are Rego, Dulwich and BIS Pudong.

Please can anyone give feedback on the above schools, despite looking it is so hard to choose. The school will determine where we live so I would also like feedback on places to live that are near the above schools, don't want to do the whole 2 hours on a school bus thing. I really want to move to an area where the school is part of the community and our child will have class playmates living close by which if we stay in downtown is just not possible, as much as I love living here, please assure me there is life beyond these tree lined streets...

yes I have kids :)
we're at BISS Pudong and are happy with the school and the area we live in too...we do live close to the school and like you that was a major issue for us.

Thanks Pingu77 ! My hubby will continue to work downtown, near wulumqui/anfu lu, any idea whats the commute like in the morning?
are you in a compound/house/ which one? is it walking distance to school? walking distance to metro?
had your kids come from uk system? how does it compare? my daughter is the only english kid in her nursery here, whilst i love her mixing with all nationalities it would be nice if she had a few friends from her native country or that they can soeak ok english.
sorry to bombard you, we are going to do a look around next week so any tips most welcome.

sorry it's taken a while to reply, on planes and in HK!

i live in Trinity as it's close enough for the kids to walk and they really like it. They have friends around and the traffic is light and slow (not that we become complacent...it's still China!)

others that are liked by mums (so i'm told!) are Emerald and Bellwood. Both are close but not really walkable by little ones with mum. But both have really nice communities. Much bigger houses for appreciable budgets than the wildly over priced French Concession too...also won't be torn up by the big road works i hear are heading that way..

hope that was useful
