Unlike some other members of the Royal Family and most of our politicians she has actually shown moral leadership.
Quite a cost for "moral leadership" - about 12million pounds a year? I'd also be interested in what "moral leadership" entails. As an outsider she seems to do little other than promote traditional and conservative values of a bygone era.
The cost question often gets raised. The Royal estates turn over much of their money to the Govt who then doles out the money back to HM, so she is a tax payer...unlike many so called British companies such as Vodophone, Tesco etc who offshore most of their earnings and avoid tax.
Additionaly the Royal estates generate work and income. Tourists are happy to stump up £25 a time to visit Windsor, Balmoral and other Royal Estates.
Many of the Royals also do trade and industry missions, generating interest and order for British companies.
On her recent visit down under HM and the Duke completely surprised the Republican's in Aus by the turn out and support shown where ever she visited.
So on the whole she does more work for the UK than the incumbents at No.10 of whatever party. She also gets more respect than any of the No.10 residents.
