Re-entry requirements?

Postby jedioncrk » Sat Mar 10, 2007 9:58 am

I have a twice entry L visa. I was intending on going to HK, then coming back, but have changed my plans. Now, is it possible to exit and then re-enter on the same day by just staying at the pudong airport?   I know it sounds ridiculous, but would that fulfill the exit and re-entry requirement? Or, would I have to actually fly out of the country?

Thanks!

You have to leave the country as the exit is registered when you enter the Security Zone

I do know you can do what you are suggesting at the Hong Kong / Macau border, but I think doing it at the airport is not quite the same and will not likely work.

First of all, you need to have a ticket for an international flight in order to clear the China immigration exit check. Then how will you re-enter without having used your ticket? What excuse will you give the immigration officer when you re-enter?

I mean, haven't you actually thought about what you were suggesting at all?

A ticket isn't the issue. I suppose I could get a ticket and just refund it later. Upon entry, customs does not check for a used flight ticket. So my question still stands. What is the difference? Is there a one day requirement or what?

No airline refunds tickets for flights that you missed after check-in.

In any event, I see you either have never flown before or have a really short memory span. The process is like this:

You check-in and go through the outgoing immigration / security check process after which you are in the departure area. To return to the incoming immigration check, you must go from the departure area to the arrival area. How do you propose to do that? There are only two ways to get from the departure area to the arrival area. One is to get off a plane that has arrived at the gate and is discharging passengers. The other way is to pretend you are boarding the plane and then sneak off the exit ramp onto the arrival ramp. Good luck!

Also, in case you haven't noticed, flights are delayed until every passenger who has checked in is actually on the plane or accounted for.

Please tell us your real name so when you try your scam, get arrested and we read about it in China Daily we can laugh our ***$es off.

There is no one-day requirement. But you can do it only at a border not at an airport.

How long do you plan on staying in China and what is the length of your current visa? If it's the visa you entered on, would it not be easier applying for a new 30 day visa.

Pudong Airport is not really the place to be recreating the movie "Terminal". You would be living on M&M's, Chivas and MildSeven.

Then again..............

Like GC suggest, probably easier to go to Exit & Entry Bureau in Pudong and fill out 1 page application, 1 passport picture plus your passport and return a few days later with 160 rmb and pick up passport with new 30 day L visa. If you are there at E&E Bureau at 9.30 am waiting time is 5 to 10 mins. Other times as long as 2 hours.

No, my memory isn't short nor does it have any lapse. Thanks for being so blatantly considerate about my health. The departure and entry areas are quite near each other, I don't see a huge security risk nor do I see a breach of immigration policy if there is no one day requirement.

If they do ask, I'll tell them my name is such and such. I hope they get a real tight photo of me so you see me flip you off.

Have a nice life chum! :P
