Renewal of work permit and residential permit for 1370USD??

Postby Milhy » Mon Sep 24, 2007 12:32 pm

Hi all,

Trying to figure out how difficult is to renew my work permit and residential permit. My visa agent I used before asked for 1370USd for it, which seems way too much!
Did anyone do the same recently and how much it cost? Could you recommend good and cheap local agency??

PS: Local stuff in my office can help with general arrangement, but I cant just give them the task without anything, they wills start panic... :?

1370 USD is far too expensive... I can check with my company but I'm pretty sure that the renewal of my permit & visa did not cost more than 800 RMB...

There are quite strict regulations with visa extensions for people from SE Asia - if you're from this region you will find it very difficult to get your visa extended (unless you work as an "expert" or GM for a local company). If your company cannot really help you with the admin the best would probably be to do it on your own or to use a good agency such as Emoo (at least I didn't hear anything bad about them yet) or other "real agencies". If your company can supply biz license & working contract it should be easy.

PLEASE do not work with individual people claiming that they have "guanxi" at immigrations and that they can provide you with biz licenses & working contracts. A friend of mine used one person and this person basically took her passport and blackmailed her. Wanted to have 10,000 RMB just to give her back the passport (well, this would correspond to your 1370 USD...) - problem was, that she had already paid for the "agency fees".

other than a recent wave of spamming our forums, Emoo does have an ok reputation though their fees were recognized as being on the higher side because of them being run by "foreigners".

my company mey get bulk pricing levels, but to renew both of mine was 800rmb = fees plus an agent to do all the running around. That might have only been to do the residence permit however.
Someone did a good thread on this not too long ago, use the search funtion.
