Renting out Apartment on Nightly Basis - Legalities

Just like it says.. a forum for discussion of these things.

Renting out Apartment on Nightly Basis - Legalities

Postby dustin » Thu Aug 28, 2008 10:13 am

What are the legalities of renting an apartment either in my Company name or my Personal name then renting it out on a weekly, monthly etc. basis to travelers.

Looking to do this in upscale buildings located near 5 star hotels.

Basically a serviced apartment but not in a full service apartment hotel.

Thanks

there's only one reason to rent out your apartment nightly, or hourly, as the thread title suggests...Pimp Dustin doesn't sound good either

You would have to get a business license allowing you to be a place that houses locals and maybe even expats. You would need the cooperation of the PSB as guests would need to be registered with them otherwise it would be illegal. just a few things I can think of right off top of my head

Which is not in China, the last time I looked.

Surprisingly enough, Chinese government rules apply in Shanghai, and they might vary just a teensy bit from those in NYC.

Just a guess.

Most specifically the ones Yu has mentioned.

Renting out, in your "company name to complete strangers" ?

'located near 5 star hotels'

Another newbie - yes, attack. Get around a bit and see the LED price indicator boards in mega-sleazy hot sheet dives: Per hour, per day.

I'm with Coffee Hawk. Does your mother know ?

Selling drugs is profitable in NYC as well. Why don't you give that a try in Shanghai? :D

^ Don't give Dustin any ideas. We already know he's not exactly the brightest bulb in the box.
