I move to Shanghai in April and have a friend out there already. We both have played roller derby for two years here in the UK, and have done some research and have not found a league in Shanghai, so we are thinking of getting one sorted!

If you are not too aware of the game, its fun, full contact (though you are padded) and very good exercise (roughly 600 cals per hour) and you train usually for two hours. It is the fastest growing sport in the world - FACT! So far there isn't a team in China and it would be great if we could do this. No skating experience required, I was a new skater coach for my league in the UK so we will get you up and at 'em in no time.

It is generally a female sport, though men and women can join in as referees and mens derby is starting to become popular, so who knows.

I know you posted this back in February but I only saw it now. A friend and I have always wanted to do roller derby! Have you had any luck finding people yet?
