School options in Shanghai

Postby cg333 » Sat Jul 28, 2007 10:06 am

Do you guys know any school which is cheaper than international school but better than a local Chinese school? We are coming to Shanghai for about a year and wondering what kind of school is suitable for our 11 old daughter. She does not know any Chinese. Only English.

Thanks for your input!

Uh...try homeschooling? There're actually quite a few homeschool groups where children can gather together once or twice a week to study together.

There are two relatively low priced international schools here. One is on the Puxi side and the other on the Pudong side. The fees are for tuition and there are other fees so best to contact them directly. They range from kindergarten to senior high school tuition.

The SMIC Private School (Pudong) USD$3,680 to USD$7,890

Shanghai Livingston American School (Puxi) USD$5,820 to USD$9,700

Technically speaking, SMIC is not an international school - it is actually a private local school with an international division. But there again, who really cares - it's a good AP-based school for the price they charge.
