Second hand furniture and appliances in Shanghai

Second hand furniture and appliances in Shanghai

Postby haopengyou » Fri Apr 02, 2010 4:13 pm

I have found a really good price on an apartment in an ideal location but it is a little short on life's necessities. Is there a market in Shanghai (preferably in Pudong) that sells second hand furniture and appliances? I have searched this site and found several places but each time I try to open that page I get a "page not found" message.

Well according to the March issue of Time Out Shanghai, there is a very good secondhand market that has absolutely everything one might possibly need for one's home called Fuwang Market located at 269 Yuntai Lu in Pudong, apparently just off of Shangcheng Lu. I'm keen to go but I have had a look at the maps and I've found a Yuntai Lu, and I live just off of Shangcheng Lu, and they are both in Pudong, but don't seem to be remotely near eachother or to intersect at any point, so I'm a bit flummoxed. Let me know if you find it (and I will do the same).
Cack, my blog is buggered.

It is 269 Yuntai lu but it is near the intersection of Chengshan Lu. You can take line 6 to the Dongming Lu station but you will have at least a 15 minute walk. It does have almost everything you might need to set up a household inexpensively.

There is a large shop with second hand furniture at the crossing of Dong an lu and Lingling lu, that's the crossing of line 4 and line 7

Yep, this is on the corner of Anting and Jianguo lu. Second handers here are alright but its not a massive shop. Seem to have a lot of bedroom and office furniture.

I hear you can find some great deals on second hand furniture, but I would never trust buying certain things second hand, especially a couch or a mattress. I wouldn't want to risk getting bugs.

i have been to this place (made up of many small shops). my opinion.

1. too many things - average to poor quality; some are chipped or have bad stains

2. prices are low - need to to walk couple of shops to check out and bargain but the products are quite different

3. do not do delivery - a big no-no since delivery may cost you more than that.

i dont like this place; i'd rather pay a little more for an ikea item.

the prices at this shop is more expensive than the one in pudong - actually alot more.

i bought a nice computer table at a much lower price at this shop and it was new at the local neighbourhood furniture stall. it came with delivery also. this shop will charge for delivery.
