seeking real estate contract Chinese to English translation

Questions and Answers about living in Shanghai here.

seeking real estate contract Chinese to English translation

Postby ATP » Sat Apr 09, 2011 9:12 pm

I have had more than my fair share of trouble with Chinese language tenant leasing contracts in the past. The difficulties it has caused.

Is there any member here gracious, & touched with a bit of humanity, who has a copy of the standard pink rental/tenant contract already translated into very good English? And would be kind enough to provide me a copy?

Or is there a local here who is a student or graduate of translation, who is willing to provide this for me on a legitimate barter basis?

Thanks.

Actually, I find that hard to understand.

I have helped many dozens of people into rentals, using my friendly agent friend over 7 years.
There are two contract forms we have used. One is called "Rental Contract", and the other is called "Premises Lease Contract", but both are intrinsicly the same, and both of 5 pages.
Each paragraph of Chinese is followed by a paragraph of perfect English.
It is a standard Shanghai agreement, and covers every contingency, well, almost. (but that is where your good agent comes in)
There should be no problem.
What agent have you used?
By the way it aint pink.

John.

The pink contract is both standard, and provided by the SH government in thick pads, issued to each real estate firm.Or my copy is pink. But it is often pink. I had one of my assistants ring the overseeing office in SH about this sometime ago.

My experience is that all the Chinese parties involved are given a pink copy (as well as myself). I have only heard of the existence of 1 bilingual document, certainly not 2.

I begin to wonder how much of this commerce is standard? And you don't know of the existence of the pink version...?

I think it is pink toilet paper. Should go in the toilet.
The standard agreement is in black and white.
If you have a bilingual document, then what is your problem?
There is one agreement, but has two headings, but as I said, basically the same.
Your experience must be much more than mine.
Good luck. Ha Ha.
