So my work are letting me go to Beijing for a week for some travelling, no idea why they are letting me go! It's pretty much last minute, so I'm trying to find the Beijing equivilant of lonely planet? Anyone got any ideas? Or know of any book stores?

It would b a saviour as the shanghai one has helped me alot. Also, anyone got any tips for Beijing? I.E places to see, bars and clubs to go, good street maps and bars that I can speak english in! I basically want to get hammered and do as much sight seeing as possible.

as for bookstores, you can visit shanghai bookstore, the largest book store in the city (located in no.360 fuzhou road，near people's square)
as for bars, you can go to sanlitun, a zone full of bars and many foreigners gather there.

There's the Shanghai Foreign Language Bookstore on the same road, quite close to the other one mentioned above.

Ta, currently over looking the olympic stadium from my free high rise flat. Beijing is pretty sweet. I will check out that bar area. Arrived with some pretty poor maps, so should be interesting!
