I'm not an expat but my wife is from shanghai. Every year my wife and I go home to shanghai. I'm british and a friend will come with me this time too.

I'm wondering if it is possible to attent expat events. I'm in Shanghai from September 22nd - October 7th. My wifes apartment in Shanghai doesn't have an internet connection (were hardly ever there) so finding out when and where events are is going to be harder.

Don't have any real plans except relaxing and meeting friends and family this time On my hit list is to sit in the lane with my father inlaw and enjoy a cold beer and just relax being as far away from my office as I can get.

Would be great to meet some expats as some time in the not so distant future I'm planning on moving to shanghai. Also my mandarin is really bad and only my wife and a few of her friends understand what I'm saying....

Every Sat at Cloud 9 Mall in Zhongshan Park Coffee bean 10:30 am, Every Sunday at Xintiandi Coffee Bean - 12noon, every Wed night 9pm at Malones third floor. These should get you started and they happen every week.

In addition, you will be in town during national holiday so there are bound to be a few things going on around town.

Can I suggest that you vist the Wednesdy night Shanghai Expat mixer at 9pm at Malones on the 3 rd floor. You will get the biggest crowd there for sure. And the dinners on every 2nd Tuesday evening too. Keep yr eye out for the next one.
