1. Depends on your nationality. Your China visa is not valid for HK but many countries do not need a HK visa.
2. 2 hours. Cheaper to fly to Shenzhen and then get the ferry or bus to HK.

Also check your China visa if you plan on returning to China.

Many tourist visas only allow a single entry into China, once you go to Hong Kong you may not be able to get back in. Hong Kong is effectively a separate country.

I don't know if an Indonesian needs a visa for Hong Kong but you will definitely need one for China.

As I said above Hong Kong and China are for travelers essentially completely separate countries, you can not use the same visa for both.

Actually just checked here http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_4.htm and Indonesians get 30 days without a Visa in Hong Kong.

The rest as Lordlunchalot says.

Indonesians won't need a visa to get into HK if their stay is less than 30 days according to their immigrations website:

http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_4.htm

Like Lordlunchalot said before, make sure your China visa is a multiple entry if you're going to be traveling between HK and Shanghai. If your visa is a single entry in China, then you'll need to fly back to Indonesia to get a new visa after you leave Shanghai for HK since I've read Indonesians cannot apply for a visa into China in Hong Kong. Maybe this will change after the rules are relaxed again.

Hi All,

Thanks for your reply.
As i got some information here, to get multiple entry visa at least we should have traveled china three times before.
Since this is my first time goes to china, is it possible to get multiple entry visa ?.

Thanks & Regards

^ Then you need to apply for 'F' (business) visa, not 'L' (visitor) visa.

May be it it better for you to go to HK first, and start your China trip there.

I always fly to Hong Kong...I always thought Chinese people fly to Shenzhen and ferry to HK because it was easier for them to get a visa...

How much cheaper is it..

I was there last week and a friend who has done this for years was delayed as they no longer issue rush VISA's and no 1 year multiples from HK (He is Canadian). He had to wait 48 hours.

Amazing how helpful people on this site are sometimes - several did the research for the OP - impressive!
