The ShanghaiExpat Sunday Coffee Meeting has been helping people enjoy coffee since 2004. For all of you newbies - we change the venue every 4 months, and the new venue will be announced on this forum. If you feel the need to start/participate in discussions about this wonderful event, you can reply to this post.

2. ShanghaiExpat only hosts one official coffee meeting and it is this one on Sundays. While there is a no-host coffee meeting on Saturday as well,t is a community event put on and attended by many regulars in the community. That meeting has its own thread and has a long standing tradition that our membership supports. The official ShanghaiExpat Sunday Coffee Meeting is hosted by our event coordinators and often sponsored and supported by our generous sponsors.

Frequently asked questions and answers:

1.Is there an entry fee to join the coffee meeting?

❤ SHEX’s answer: ShanghaiExpat’s two weekly events (the other one is Wednesday Night Mixer) are free and open to the public.

2.How many people normally attend the event?

❤ SHEX’s answer: An average of 25 friends each week.

3.What is the age group of the people that attend the event?

❤SHEX’s answer: Age is just a number. Who cares. But to answer the question, it varies, the average is 25-35.

4.Which language is usually spoken during the coffee meeting?

❤SHEX’s answer: Attendees usually use English, but this is China, so of course Chinese is sometimes spoken. It depends, no limitations.

5.Do people normally come in a group? And is it okay to go alone?

❤SHEX’s answer: Normally people come alone. We have event coordinators to introduce friends to each other and you won’t feel lonely!

6.What is the main purpose of having the coffee meeting?

❤SHEX’s answer: ShanghaiExpat wants to help welcome new comers to Shanghai. The coffee meeting is an event for people to exchange ideas on living and working in Shanghai.

I had a nice time there this past Sunday, meeting a couple new people and talking to some that I met in past weeks. I think next week I will try to do a better job of mingling and being more social. It was pretty packed this time... maybe the new location is small enough to make it always seem packed. Flora did a great job of greeting people and getting us together.

Travelers are so damn interesting compared to other people that I meet.

Hi, Toyboatt, if you have time tonight you can also come to our Wednesday night mixer. Besides, next week I will have a registration desk just at the entrance of the Coffee Bean so that people can directly get the wristband and enjoy the 20%off coffee and food!

Yesterday we all had a good time!! The coffee bean's SNAPPLE is really good! Usual price is 25RMB but for SHEX members(those who attend the coffee meeting Sunday afternoon). It needs only 20RMB!! A little bit sour and sweet! Only be sold at the Coffee Bean! Join us on Feb.5th!

Today's meeting was great. There were soooo many people. Thanks to Flora and Roy for welcoming people and making everybody feel comfortable.
