Sick to my stomach for 3 days now.

Postby jeffinflorida » Sat Sep 12, 2009 10:48 pm

I usually never get stomach ills and have been coming to China for 4 years now and never been sick like this.

Wednesday night I had dinner with a friend at an Ajsain Ramon place (those Japanese style noodle places all around China now) and I ordered the usual thing I like - A pork cutlet in a bowl with rice and soup and a pickle cut up.

Had this dish 25 or more times never an issue.

About 30 minutes later my stomach is bad.

Fast forward 3 days.

Nothing stays in. passes quickly. Loose stools. On the toilet 10 times a day. Stomach pain. Gas.

First 2 days basically drinking Coke and a Gatorade. Had a bowl of white rice.

Today eat a little more food but to the bathroom quickly, several times in the first hour after eating.

Have some Peptal Bismal pills bought in HK, they didn't help much.

It does seem to be getting better at all. Chinese friend said go to the hospital, but I declined as I don't want a drip...

Recommendations?

Some loperamide (sp?) should sort you out. I've never looked but you must be able to get it here - perhaps Parkway pharmacy at the Portman. Immodium is the main brand in the UK.

Get well soon!

Drink loads of water. It will keep you hydrated and will help to flush out the bacteria from your body. Try warm peppermint tea as well. It really soothes the digestive system. Send your friend out for a box of tea bags. They are quite cheap. Hope you feel better soon.

If Immodium (Loparamide), or Seirogan does not show effect after 3 days, you might have something more serious and might consider seeing a doctor.

Our Ayi bought my wife some little pill like things (I say things, since they stink and look like goat droppings!), and it helped her straight away. I couldn't tell you what their called, but just look for the goat poos and you'll be fine.

I have those pill things as well - can't remeber the name but they come in a yellow/orange box. They are Japanese and work like a charm. Can get them at any pharmacy.

I agree with Marakanis. I have had the same thing before. Went to Parkway still got a drip, shot and pills. Took me a week to fully recover. Go now if your still sick.

Ok. its been 6 days. Stomach is back to normal. Drank lots of coke to help the bad stomach and just was careful what i ate.

Thanks, Back to our regular scheduled programing of picking up Chinese girls and why bloomark's anus is so stretched out...

That's the Seirogan I mentioned. Good stuff. But also here, if no effect after 2 - 3 days, there's something more serious going on.

Went to Ajsain today and have had the same (5x since lunch now)! But this is overall pretty common for me in Shanghai. Probably as I eat 99% of my meals out I often get 'treated' with a plate of super oily food.
