See?

You must really be desperate to take me down if you're stooping this low (and still getting it wrong). Got under your skin, did I?
The bottom line here is we must lower our cost base to make room for a lower margin product mix world and to grow our earnings going forward.

Americans will not be able to afford even the daily necessities.
Life won't go on

That's a common but false claim also. Maybe I'm too old but guess what ? The US existed twenty years ago. We did fine. In fact, we did better twenty years ago than we do now, before we had the "advantage" of "cheap Chinese goods."

If we could turn back the clock to 1985 we'd be in Fat City.

Of course, we'd have to eliminate Wall Street, the major cause of American financial problems for the past two centuries, but the vast majority of American lives would be greatly improved by that action. That's one reason it's hard for me to get worked up over the WTC destruction. I just wish they'd hit Goldman-Sachs et al instead :(

If I eat steak and lobster everyday now, and I go broke, I go back eating instant noodles with spams like college days, no problem, I will survive.
But Somethings can not go back.
For many of those "cheap Chinese goods" that's filling up Walmart, Target, Costco and etc, there isn't USA domestic manufactures making the same stuff, they could not compete with the low Chinese pricing so they were out of business long time ago.
Even if they do get back at manufacturing those goods, the price will be much higher, a big percentage of the USA population today are just barely getting by, they can not afford any higher living expense.

P.S. I prοtest that Goldman Sachs comment. 8) :P

Which I believe fWerrF, you contributed to that, yeah?

The cheap stuff DOESN'T need to come from China. People got this mind set on China for chrissakes!! "OMG OMG what if we can't get any more junk from China!!"

I agree 20 years ago America and others did well without China and without China now its a bump in the road. You don't think in instant shutting off Chinese goods, its slowly moved to other suppliers. Such as clothes, Vietnam is taking off, give it a few more years . . .

China is winding down despite the Chinese and US financial rhetoric (BS). I've said before that manufacturers here in in Indo are moving to become "China Free", they're had enough of the variable quality and outright cheating. Give it time.

The dream is over . . . coming to China now is no longer catching a wave, rather its flotsam on the tide.

People and businesses are still coming to China but are too late to catch the wave which has already passed. Hence there is no wave bringing these people and businesses to China rather they are flotsam riding the tide. See?

I would say what chinese become more independent, owning manufactures, brands and marketing. Yes, time of cheap socks is gone. Now they make ships, tracks, planes, telecommunication hardware, food, etc.. http://www.uschina.org/statistics/tradetable.html

Do you believe what car-sellers can draw money from Chinese when their business is dead? No way!

PS: It is noticeable what US no longer be able to consume so much ... but World is big.

2009, China's Trade with the World ($ billion),export: 1,201.7 (100%)
2009, China's Trade with the USA ($ billion),export: 296.4 (24%)

Why are you so fixated on the US, idiot?

Its not just the US who have just about had just about enough with dealing with Chinese companies, the EU, UK, Oz, Middle East, South East Asia, Russia, South America and so on. This was a common complaint I heard at so many international trade shows I've attended.

I'll say it again, Indonesian manufacturers are moving to be "Chinese Free" or having a "Zero Chinese Import Footprint". Companies are tired of the cost and annoyances of having to send their own staff to supervise their order from Chinese manufactures. In China any ISO Quality Assurance is just a piece of paper framed on the wall, its meaningless. Example: How could a ISO QA certified Chinese milk product producer sell melamine dosed products?? Chinese companies simply just buy their ISO QA certification.

How long is this going to continue?

Further on US markets and bubbles: http://nplusonemag.com/who-spent-the-money
The Hege Fund Manager also hopes Martians exist: “We could start trading with them. Somebody finally would be uncorrelated enough, we could buy protection from them on the U.S. government and feel like they could actually pay it back. LGM Capital Management, Little Green Men Capital Management, a perfectly good counterparty”. Fabulous :|

I'm just a guest in this fascinating country. Yes, one with skills to share and develop, but I never forget that my presence and skills are tolerated/required only AT THE MOMENT; things may change and I have to be prepared for that event. The question is not if, but when...now over to the posts discussing intellectual matters under "Relocation and Moving"....
