Speech therapy services?

Postby 2snappers » Mon Nov 14, 2005 6:06 am

My family and I are looking at moving to Shanghai for 2 years. My daughter (7yo) is currently receiving speech therapy through her public school for a slight speech problem (doesn't do well with th or r). My question is do the international schools offer speech therapy? If not, is it possible to find it elsewhere? Thanks for any responses...this site is very helpful!

Hi 2snappers
International schools do not offer the service. The only way is through the family united clinic and hospitial. There are only 2 theripists in shanghai so you sometimes have to wait. The ladys name is Jessica( sorry forgotten last name) she is amercian and works mainly with children. Hope this helps.

FROM SUFH. This is a real need. Jessica Cypher works with us and is fully booked. We are talking to two people, one in the US and one in Australia. We would like to have another therapist on board by February.

Greetings! Unfortunately the international schools here in Shanghai do not have speech and language therapy services. I am actually one of only two English speaking speech language pathologists working here in Shanghai. My office is located at Shanghai United Family Hospital which is a foreign owned and operated hospital and clinic dedicated to the needs of expatriate families. If you would like to email me directly, we can chat in more detail. jesscypher@hotmail.com
