The That's Shanghai Food and Drink awards are up again. And there are a few posters here that are part of some of the establishments that are nominated.

In order of categories:

#3. KJ at Bubba's, up for the Best American bar. A well established favorite in Hongqiao, and more recently Expo Village. I don't blame you for not going to the Expo Village site. It's not exactly easy to get into that fortress. Unless you know the right people. Or where the Japanese pavilion is.

#28 Mat and myself at Cuvee, up for best Wine Bar. Whether you love or hate us, we've been here for a good 5 years on Shanghai Expat. And we're looking at several more. There's a 3rd long-timer out there too, but I'll let that person claim his spot here for himself. I think he's out of town at the moment.

#31 Kit at Beaver, up for best Dive Bar. Granted, he hasn't posted much, but he's starting to come around here and there. He started out advertising here, but has since posted some tidbits in random threads, and not just for his bar's benefit.

#33 Handoogies at Stampede Karting, up for best Bar Concept. I've only read a few of his posts, but seriously... he's ADVOCATING drinking and DRIVING!!! And that's alright in my books!!!

Maybe not fair to vote as I'm not in Shanghell any more but I could I'd give it to Mat (and you) and KC although the service as I remember it was not so great but the food more than made up for it!!

Do these awards really benefit the biz in the long run, apart from the bar or restuarant getting a framed certificate for their wall? A well planned guerilla campaign could get any shithole votes. Someone should do a list of all past winners and see if they're still around…

We get a write up in the mags so if people who never heard of the place suddenly finds out about it, there's a bigger chance that people may stop in.
