I'm going to Shanghai this thursday for 5 days and am wondering if i have enough time to visit Suzhou as well as Hangzhou, both on day trips.. since i'll also be popping over to the Formula one races one afternoon, do you think it makes sense for me to visit both cities? i am keen on the silkware in suzhou and the beautiful sceneray in hangzhou... please advise!!!

i have seen both cities. Nice and worthy to go, but both cities require at least a full day each. If you want to do some shopping and real sight seeing, you should consider two days per city.

If you've got lotsa stamina and plan your day trips well, you can squeeze each city's best sights in a day. Perhaps you can go to Hangzhou first, take a breather, then go to Suzhou on the next.

Best if you can stay overnight in a hotel by the West Lake in Hangzhou. The lake has a mystical beauty under the moonlight.
