Taking bunny out of China

Postby tekmeta » Thu Aug 06, 2009 2:17 pm

Hi ! We move in september-october out of China. How we can take our bunny with us ? We know there is some restrictions, but I'm sure there is some way to do it.

I met this lady in Pudong and she had a bunny and was trying to return to the US with it to no avail (she said she tried everything). She said they consider rabbits livestock and cannot be removed from China. Sorry....

To make sure, you might want to contact KCDat (Asian Tigers) who are one of the top moving companies in China. I bet they would know or who you could speak with about your situation.

If you can take your Bunny out of China depends where you want to take it. There are several ways to find out wether it is possible or not.

1. check with the consulate of your destination & check their Ministry of Agricultre Website. Most Vet Restrictions & Rules are posted there

2. check with Shen Pu Pet Clinic which is the Export Vet Clinic you will have to use for your Animals Exit Health Check & possible Rabies Vaccination. You can reach them at 53018000. They are open 24hrs - however, english service is soso outside office Hours.

3. check with the Vet you are using now

I would not recommend you to contact the moving companies as the rules change quiet often. There are specific Pet Relocation Companies that might be able to help. Altough they are a bit pricey and not necesary most of the times.

Hope this helps

How big is it? Can you bring it on the plane with you?

Rabbit is smaller than cat, but it is not safe to hide it and try to passover security in airport. Pet relocation companies refused to support rabbit relocation since it is forbidden.

Hi Tekmeta, as soon as I can, I will try to check any more information from my friend. Maybe this was a guanxi thing, but not from them, I'm sure.
I'll see if it was their agent or company or who that helped them with the bunny.
